My name is Angela and I have been working with children, teenagers and young adults for 30 years, initially as a teacher and, for the last 10 years, as a counsellor. I have a Master’s degree in Child and Adolescent Psychotherapeutic Counselling from the University of Cambridge, alongside further specialist training in working with children, young people and families. Through Barnardo’s, I have also completed specialist training in adoption support counselling and am registered with Ofsted (through Barnardo’s) to undertake this work.

Counselling is not statutorily regulated in the UK, so it is important to check that a counsellor is registered with a recognised professional body. I am a BACP-accredited counsellor (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and an accredited professional member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (PNCPS). I hold membership of the ‘Children, Young People and Families’ sub-divisions of both organisations. My BACP accreditation recognises my training, experience and continuing professional development. I have specialist training in providing online counselling for children and young people and I work within the BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions.

I hold an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate and undertake regular safeguarding training to enable me to work with children.
